Day 7...good news....and bad news...

AJ 5 : NY 5 (will we ever have a winner?)
current mood: rather perplexed

today was ok at first. in the morning, we finally lined up according to our CT groups (civics tutorial). i finally realized that michelyn is in NY when she saw me in the same CT and called me. i couldn't recognize her right away because she really slimmed down.the only other people i know in my CT are roy, penuel and wei long.

so, after assembly, we went to the hall for talks held by the 2 vice-principals. we finally got to know that the renovation and contruction would be done by the next erm. the parade square and basketball courts would be ready next month but the tennis courts would only be ready in march (meaning we would have to go down to YCK to practice in the meantime.).

after the talks, we had our first and only mass GP lecture held in the hall. the laptop/ projector wasn't working so we couldn't see the presentation. furthermore, the lecturer didn't articulate himself clearly enough so it was rather tiring.

after GP, we had half an hour's break which i spent in the library with clarice and kelvin. we grabbed some chemistry books and filled in our lecture notes to get ourselves prepared for tommorrow.

we had our physics introductory lecture after the break and the lecturer was rather engaging and funny. they gave out physics notes and some people including my row didn't get any. so one of the teachers, mr lim, went to get the notes and gave them to us. oh ya, my point is, that mr lim looks a lot like eric from shinhwa(including the puffy eyes look). after physics was maths which was equally fun and the lecturer just as humourous. we learnt partial fractions which isn't too challenging and kinda fun to do. then we didn't just get notes on partial lectures but also a worksheet on surds, indices and logarithms.

after maths, we had a house meeting at our respective venues. (zelda is now known as dragon, ithor = pegasus, osiris = griffin and nazgul = phoenix) the house meeting was about the inter-house chinese new year float making competition. all j1's are involved. so it's either performing or float making. performers were under the beautiful amanda (our house captain) while the people making it would be under the other i-can't-remember-his-name house captain. obviously i had to volunteer to perform right? so, the performers went outside to discuss what to perform. so while we were in the middle of the discussion (okok, we were going to begin discussing), one of the j2's came looking for me because the guy house captain asked for me. so i went back. the captain wanted to see 3 people, which included me, after the meeting. (i think it's because we had volunteered long time ago. ok, i didn't know everyone HAD to be involved at that time. like all my friends teased me by saying "wah, you want to do everything ar? haha.") ok, so the meeting was finally over. so when my friend and i went to look for the guy, he said it's ok and he would see us another time without explaining why he had wanted to see us.

ok, after the meeting i did not have anymore lectures for the day. but, i couldn't go as i had dragonboat/canoeing at 4.30pm. so i went to the cafeteria for lunch. after lunch, i met jaime who also signed up and managed to convince him to go have a look even though he had injured his foot. so, we went to the library with hui shan and we sat down and finished our maths homework. after we were done there was like another 40minutes to go. ok, so we changed and waited around at the grand stand.

the training (or rather orientation) started promptly and we started off by running 2 rounds round the track, did some stretching, push-ups and some more warming up. i wouldn't called it vigorous or really tiring but it's only a small fraction of their usual training. then the captain warned all of us (around 100 people were there at least but i don't think all of them will stay.) that it is a cca with very vigorous physical training and that it won't be easy. oh yeah, because my black zion t-shirt (the attire for today's training) is still wet, i wore my secondary school p.e. t-shirt, so i was like the odd one out.(only a few others didn't wear the black zion t-shirt). after that, we had some games. the first game was a short obstacle course that we had to complete while being tied to another person. i paired up wioth junio and we did pretty well. our group manged to beat the other group. the second game was a game where we had to blidfolded and then had to navigate our way throguh an area with plastic bottles around. we can't knock down the bottles and we had to pick up a balloon and inflate it before crawling under a bench and reaching the other side. there would be a commander who would give the blindfolded person directions. we managed to win the second game as well. the third game was like dog and bone. but instead of playing with bean bags, there would be a pail of water and tapioca flour and we would have to run to the pail and shout the other person's name. the person who shouts first gets to splash the other person. i got called three times out of which i got splashed twice because i can't remember the names of guys but i managed to get the girl, joyce. well, our group still managed to win in the end and we got to splash everyone from the other group althugh there were three guys who ran away even though all four girls were very sporting and were willing to get splashed. i've got this feeling that those 3 guys won't last long in dragonboat. we ended with a debrief and i put my name down for saturday's sea training at kallang river. it is really quite fun and i really want to take this opportunity to work out in preperation for NAPFTA.

ok, the good news and bad news part came after the dragonboat and canoeing. the good news: the person from tennis finally called me and told me that the try-outs are tommorrow at YCK, my usual place. how exciting! and if i make it into the school team, i would be able to take part in the upcoming tourney which will be held while PAE is still on! PEARLS points galore! the bad news: chances are that the tennis boys' team would be closed down during april for whatever reason unless a miracle happens (winning in the oturney?). this gives me a greater reason to leave NY during JAE. on the other hand, i think i have some feelings for NY already and that i can still join dragonboat which is not a really common cca that can be found at every jc and i could appeal for the tennis boys' team to be reformed once my friends come in during JAE and we get numbers and there might be a chance that we might be successful if our proposal is good. oh yea, if it is, we would get PEARLS points! heh heh....

well, today's chain of events still leaves me undecided. no matter what, i'm going to work hard for my place at the try-outs tommorrow. anyone reading this blog please wish me good luck and i appreciate your moral support. oh yea, we'll be having p.e. tommorrow and i heard that we have to run like 8 rounds round the tracks which works out to be around 0.4km x 8 = 3.2km?! just hope that i would still have energy after p.e. at the try-outs. maybe i should have a banana at lunch? well, it's time for me to go rest early tonight. cya tommorrow!!! oyasumi nasai~
